Ko te Omangaroa o te kura.

Ko te Omangaroa o te kura.
Te Puna's School Cross Country was fantastic with several children from Te Puna Matauranga achieving their personal goals due to their training and preparation prior to this event. Congratulations to those children who were successful in gaining selection for the cluster competition.

Poutama Tau

The foci of Te Poutama Tau (the Màori-medium numeracy project) is threefold: to develop the discipline to support Màori-medium pàngarau/mathematics, to raise Màori student achievement in pàngarau by improving the professional capability of teachers, and to continue the revitalisation of te reo Màori.
The following pictures demonstrate how number knowledge strategies are developed in some of the children of Room 9.  Many thanks to Whaea Tammy for facilitating these lessons.

Classic Flyers - Tauranga to the Trenches WW1 Exhibition

What a fantastic morning we spent at Classic Flyers looking at the exhibition and performing some items that The Maori Battalion performed in WWII.  This performance was videoed and will be entered into a competition aimed at increasing community awareness of what it meant to serve in wartime.  The children entertained an appreciative audience made up of students from other schools, members of the general public and staff from Classic Flyers.
While viewing the exhibition the children completed a questionaire that helped them to better understand what it meant to be a soldier in WW1.
All in all we had a great day that finished with a swim at The Mount Hot Pools.

Kia ora Whanau, he mihinui ki a koutou katoa mo tenei tau hou.
My Christmas Holidays I spent with my whanau. It is always a special time when our children come
home from Australia and spending quality time with our grandchildren. I live in paradise, Mount Maunganui which is a beautiful place to stay and the beach is the best in the world. So I feel like I'm on holiday everyday of the year. Matua Louis
